D'Antoni and the Knicks: A Perfect Match? Or Not?

It's official. Mike D'Antoni is going to be the head coach for the New York Knicks in the next season and in at least three more seasons after that. This is a development that basketball analysis had half-expected but still, it had left them half-surprised. It is not a secret that the New York Knicks needs a big boost in their games. They are one of the best paid teams in the league and yet, they are failing to deliver their salary's worth.

Hedo Turkoglu, Dwight Howard and Maurice Evans vs Pistons at Game 5

Throughout NBA history, teams have gone through series of change, one year a team maybe the cream of the crop, the favorite for the NBA title or just obviously one of the best teams in the league and it may stay that way for the foreseeable future, but unfortunately, it all must end at some point. Players get old, franchises fall apart (Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks), and general managers go from genius status to the hot seat.

Detroit Humbles Orlando to Reach the East Finals

Six. This is the number of times in a row that the Detroit Pistons are able to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. In two of those times, they have won the NBA Championship. This year, they have made it again and will be facing the winner of the Boston Celtics – Cleveland Cavaliers series. Regardless of who wins between those two teams, the Pistons are prepared. They have ample time to rest, which is most important for their star point guard Chauncey Billups who had an ankle injury in their team’s match-up against the Orlando Magic. Detroit’s beating of Orlando in five games was their ticket to this year’s East Finals.

Is Boston for Real?

Boston has lost two in a row in their playoffs series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics finished as the top-seeded team in the East. Now they are up against the fourth seed Cleveland and they can't seem to get their game going. They are headed back home for Game 5 but even that can't assure them of beating the Cavs for good.

Utah Jazz Won Game 4 at Home

The story of the “Wizard of Oz” taught a valuable lesson: there is no place like home. For most of the remaining teams competing in this year’s NBA Playoffs, their home court was the key to success. Out of eight teams, only one has lost in their official arena. The Western Conference saw Utah, Los Angeles, San Antonio and New Orleans playing their best games in their respective courts. The Eastern Conference, meanwhile, has Detroit, Boston, and Cleveland protecting their turf. Orlando was the only team that relinquished the advantage of playing for a very supportive home crowd.

Kobe Bryant Game 4 Versus Utah Jazz

In every sport whether it be football, baseball, soccer or basketball, every player loves to play at home. Everyone in the stadium or arena cheering just for you and booing the other team off the court, being so loud that the visiting team finds it hard to think, react or just play their game. This has been no more apparent then for whatever team steps foot into the Utah Jazz’s house at the Energy Solutions Center.

LeBron James: Overrated or Not?

LeBron James is the main man for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He, of the entire line-up of players the team has, had seemed to have single-handedly brought the Cavs into the playoffs series – the ultimate destination of every team in the league.

But looking at his performance in the playoffs, including the first two games against the Celtics, basketball fans are wondering why his regular season prowess seemed to have been on and off during the playoffs. Where is LeBron James? Is he really an overrated player? A little flashback on LeBron’s performance is needed to answer this question.

A Crucial Game 3 Victory for the Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs did not become last year’s NBA Champions for nothing. They showcased their team power and muscled their way to the title by beating the other ball clubs that stood in their way. However, this year’s Playoffs are becoming a stumbling block to them as they were handed two consecutive losses by the New Orleans Hornets. Not having homecourt advantage was a factor in the Spurs earlier defeats but Game Three was another story. Returning to the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, Tim Duncan and the Spurs rallied their way to a much-needed victory with a 110-99 beating of the Hornets.

Is Rashard Lewis Overpaid?

All throughout NBA history there have been supposed “underrated” players or “overpaid” players, if you ask me the only basketball player that ever really deserved his huge contracts was Michael Jordan who was like a guaranteed championship and unlimited revenue when he played in Chicago, but that is beside the point, there probably won’t be another MJ (maybe Kobe). That fact is in professional sports millions and millions of dollars gets thrown around at a ridiculous rate and few players are really worth their price tag.

Kobe Bryant Wins MVP

Every era in NBA basketball has had players that literally define the meaning of basketball excellence and perfection from the beginning of professional basketball with the late great George Mikan of the Minneapolis Lakers who won the MVP in 1953 and dominated the NBA winning 5 NBA titles in a row in the late 40s to the early 50s to Wilt Chamberlain who completely changed the face of NBA basketball and the way the game was played and still holds the record for most points in a game with 100. Not only did Wilt the Stilt change the game he also dominated the league much like Mikan did winning two NBA championships and four MVP awards in his career.
