![]() How crazy of a life it is for Derrick Rose. Just over a year ago, Rose is attending his high school prom- now he is becoming the first pick in the NBA draft. David Stern is at the podium. The Chicago Bulls are on the clock. The Chicago Bulls now have five minutes to make their selection. Why do they need that full five minutes? Supposively John Paxson has claimed he will be choosing Rose. 1.0% chance that the Bulls would garner the number 1 pick, and I’ll be darned- they did just that. Do the Bulls really need Rose? They have so many guards already. So, if the Bulls are going to pick Rose, who are they going to move, to accommodate the draft choice of Rose. Paxson HAS to get a big guy for this team to win. Hinrich, Gordon, Duhon, etc. I think it would be best for the Bulls to trade away Gordon AND Hinrich. Can Rose be the leader the Bulls really need? With a new young coach, it is going to be vital that someone take charge of that team on the court. Is Rose the guy to do that? Would Beasley would a better guy to do it? It’s time, Stern up to the podium for the first pick in the draft. It’s Rose! The Bulls get their hometown boy! What a feel that must be for Derrick! “Poo”, the 6’4 195 Guard out of the University of Memphis has won a lot in his basketball career. Winning two straight High School championships, and then winning a record 37 games at Memphis, the guy hates to lose. Rose can get into the lane on anyone, and that is something the Bulls will need- off the dribble. Rose will have to develop his outside shooting for him to be the best player her can be in the league. The Miami Heat are on the clock, and they are in need. They need A LOT. The Heat go with Michael Beasley. Good pick for the Heat. The Forward out of Kansas State University was talked about as the #1 or #2 pick for a long time, but recent debate came up that O.J. Mayo may be the guy. Beasley is 6’9, 235 has a wing span over 7 feet, which is impressive. The guy is a beast on the boards, and is very athletic. Offensively, this guy can lead the Heat right away. Miami needs that, especially with D. Wade coming back healthy, and Marion beginning his first full year with the Heat. Great pick for the Heat! The Minnesota Timberwolves are now on the clock. With the third pick in the draft, the Timberwolves pick- O.J. Mayo. Good pick. Out of the University of Southern Califonia, O.J. id 6’4, 200lbs. Some scouts say this guy is the most NBA ready of any player out there. He has great potential, and is an amazing competitor. Some people question his character, but his teammates at USC speak the world of him. Good choice for the young Timberwolves! On the clock- the Seattle SuperSonics. Who can they get to add with Kevin Durant? Wow. Seattle has six draft picks in this draft! That is a lot of picks! Seattle better have a good plan on what they want to do. Seattle picks- Russell Westbrook. Good choice? We’ll see. It’s a guard that I think can work with Durant pretty well. This is the 12th straight year a UCLA player has been drafted in the first round of the draft. A Kevin Durant sighting! He is at the draft, and approves of the Sonics chose. Russell is a 6-3, 180lbs guard out of UCLA. He is extremely athletic, and finishes with the best of them. Should be pretty fun duo in Seattle! Memphis is next on the clock. What do the Grizzles need the most? If you were to ask me, I say a better head coach, but that is not possible with the draft. The Griz have went 22-60 the past two seasons. Rudy Gay is a major scorer for Memphis, but they are going to need to get something to help out Rudy. I think this is a great spot for Kevin Love, out of UCLA. Also, look for Brook Lopez here. The pick is in: The Grizzles go with Kevin Love. So back to back UCLA selections. One thing is for certain, there is not an uglier guy in the draft than Kevin Love. Man, he is ugly. No harm Kevin, you are a heck of a player. Love, is huge. He is so smooth under the basket, and is very strong. He looks like an oxe under the basket. But one thing about Love is he can shoot the ball real well, and actually passes real well. 6’10, 250lbs should definitely help Rudy Gay, by dominating the low post in Memphis. The New York Knicks are on the clock. This should be interesting, as the Knicks fans will approve or disapprove right away when this pick is made. Here we go- The Knicks go with Danilo Gallinari, from Italy. Very mixed emotions in New York. A lot of boo’s. Don’t you feel bad for that guy? I mean, before he steps foot on the floor, he is already boo’d? Wow. Gallinari should be a good addition for the Knicks. Gallinari is 6’9 and can score, in big ways. Don’t look for Gallinari to be a major superstar, but definitely look for him to be a major impact, like a lot of the foreign players are. Check back tomorrow for a full report on the NBA draft!
