| Nets Could Shop Vince-sanity |

![]() Here are a few trades that would work logistically and that might make sense for the respective teams involved. Scenario #1: New Jersey trades Vince Carter to the Chicago Bulls for guard Kirk Hinrich and forward Tyrus Thomas. Why this works: Chicago has sought a go-to-guy for some time. Ideally, that player would be able to slip in at the power forward or center spot, but with that looking less and less likely, the Bulls may have to settle for a number one option at the shooting guard position. If this trade were to happen, it would mean the Bulls would try to shop Ben Gordon or Larry Hughes next. This trade could work for the Nets because it would give them a defensive-minded combo-guard in Hinrich and another young, athletic forward in Thomas. Scenario #2: New Jersey trades Vince Carter, Trenton Hassell and Keith Van Horn’s contract to the New York Knicks for Stephon Marbury’s large expiring contract and forward David Lee. This trade would be all about clearing salary cap room for the Nets. The Knicks have one of the largest payrolls in the league, however, and may be hesitant to take on another large contract. Still, they might be willing to pull the trade if they believe adding a player or Carter’s caliber is worth it. The Nets would love the extra cap space and David Lee would be a nice fit at the four spot. Scenario #3: New Jersey trades Vince Carter to the Orlando Magic for forward Rashard Lewis. The Orlando Magic already has Hedo Turkoglu playing the same style/position as Lewis, and though Carter’s older than Shard, he has one year less on his contract. Orlando needs more help at the two-guard position than they do the small forward position. Comments

Take a look.. It's from Netsdaily: Nets Not Looking to Deal Carter July 3, 2008, 6:59 am Quoting a “person familiar with the Nets’ strategy”, Ken Berger of Newsday says the Nets “are not looking to trade Vince (Carter)” and that they have reached out to about 20 “second tier” free agents. Both the Nets and Knicks have contacted guards Roger Mason, Chris Quinn, and Janerro Pargo, reports Berger, but two top targets, James Posey and Mickael Pietrus, will likely be too expensive. http://www.netsdaily.com/?p=6142 report abuse

They always say that...

Of course, they're not going to say they want to trade Vince. His stock goes down if other teams think this is a fire sale. Believe me, though, they're listening to offers. They'll keep him if they don't get a good deal, but they won't hesitate to pull the trigger if one makes sense. The trades for Kidd and RJ made sense. Carter is not "in the Nets' plans." He's simply stuck there for the time being. Iverson was supposedly in the Sixers plans...Garnett was supposedly in the Wolves plans...Ray Allen was in the Sonics plans. Don't believe it.

I think Iverson, Garnett, Ray Allen all have trade value, but Carter? I don't think so. He has a huge contract, and he has now settle in jump shots more than (dunks) - aging, and he had the bad attitude when he was in his last year in Toronto. I don't think any team will want to trade for him now.

Since NJN is in the rebuilding process, I don't think they will take Lewis's contract now. well, anything is still possible. report abuse
