Boston beats the Lakers to win their 17th Championship

Happy days have come once again to the town of Boston as their homegrown Celtics squad has won its 17th NBA Championship. Counting on their new Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics now stand proud atop the rest of the league. They were compared to the past Celtic greats and now they are among the ranks of these hallowed men. It is simply memorable for the Big Three as they gained their championship – the first one in their entire career – by beating the Los Angeles Lakers, the absolute archrival of the Boston Celtics team.

Playing in front of their home crowd, the Boston Celtics did not disappoint. From the get go, they made sure that the series is over and done. It was a very lopsided Game 6 win, 131-92. It was as if the Lakers were even surprised that they managed to get to Game 6. They faced the wrath of the boys in green. The Celtics played with tenacity and ferociousness. The Celtics paid tribute to the Boston players who have won a championship – Bird, Mchale, Cousy, Havlicek, etc. – by winning one this decade. They now have championship number 17. It is a very sweet win especially since it was the Lakers squad that they faced.

Paul Pierce played his entire career as a Celtics and his efforts were more than rewarded when he was named Finals MVP. He was absolutely superb in the series, even though he got injured in the first match of the series. In Game 6, Pierce bounced back by scoring 17 points and dishing out 10 assists. As usual, he got offensive help from Kevin Garnett, who had 26 points to go with 14 rebounds and 3 steals. But, the star of the game was Ray Allen. Criticized for lack of offensive skill in the playoffs, Allen scored 26 points by shooting 8 out of 12 field goals. Seven of those made shots were from beyond the arc.

The Lakers were already beaten by the third quarter. Seeking offense from their leader and league MVP Kobe Bryant, the Lakers were shut down by the red-hot shooting of the Celtics team. Bryant had 22 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. He knew he needed scoring help but it was nowhere to be found. Their prized trade steal Pau Gasol only had a measly 11 points and 8 rebounds. Their other scoring threat, Lamar Odom, was clamped to only 14 points although he still managed to get 10 rebounds.

Now that it’s all over, the Big Three can finally relax and smile as they each got their own championship ring. Garnett, Allen and Pierce were asked to carry their previous teams to glory but they were unsuccessful, partly due to the lack of help from their teammates. With this championship secured in their careers, the Big Three knows that they got each other’s back. They know that they can win against other teams as long as they help each other out.

well, congratulate the celtics, person.
the celtics were the better team, and rondo outplayed fisher on every level, Ray was a good third, and pierce outplayed kobe to be a champion in 2008, but the lakers will be right back next, season, nobody is gonna trade odom, we will sign a prominent free agent soon though, many people will wanna play in LA now, i guess, ALONZO MOURNING wants to win another championship and he'll be the main backup to Andrew Bynum, also completely unfair out there togetheer, lol. u can only hope the celtics get back to the finals, and hope they don't run into the Hawks in the playoffs again next season, guarentee we'll beat them boys now!
