![]() However, it was the emergence of Pau Gasol that gave the Lakers that long lost spark of brilliance. The Spanish big man had 19 points and 13 rebounds. He also put up 6 assists and blocked 2 shots. Gasol had help from another Lakers big man, Lamar Odom. He finished the game with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Odom was also a major presence underneath the boards as he swatted 4 Celtics’ shots. The Lakers’ veteran point guard Derek Fisher was also sensational. Fisher had 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He was 8 out of 11 from the free throw line. The Celtics could have won the game and the series but, as seen in previous battles, they lacked the needed support from the bench. Their Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were the team’s only offensive weapons. Thus, the Lakers’ defense centered in on the three players since they knew that the enemy bench was ineffective. Pierce had an awesome scoring display, providing 38 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Allen added 16 points and Garnett scored 13 points while adding 14 rebounds. Yet, their second unit only had a measly 28 points. Hanging on for dear life, the Lakers will try to force a Game 7 by winning on Boston’s turf. It will be hard battle but, with enough help from the bench, the Lakers can get the victory. It will be Kobe’s time to shine since he knows that if they lose, all their efforts will all be naught. Meanwhile, the Celtics would love to finish the pesky Lakers on their home court. Playing in front of their very supportive crowd, they can feed of the home energy and give Boston another championship banner to hang in the rafters. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments
