At this fifth H4L Exclusive Interview, Hoops4Life crew did a interview with Hoops4Life mix legend Mixtapelive.

Q: Who inspired you and how did you first get into mixing?

Well it was like begining of the school year in late 05, and the nba was a month or so away, but i really needed some nba videos to fill my cravings, and so i stumbled upon www.dontblinkmixtape.com and i saw that people had made mixes of the nba and downloaded all of them and once i had watched all of them i wanted more, so i started searching for more, then i found ld2k's website, and i downloaded kobe brynat redemption, and man when i saw that video the way it was edited, the emotions, and everything about it i fell in love with it, and i decided that i wanted to start making mixes too, and here I am a year and a few months later. So DBTM and LD2K were my 1st insipirations, but at 1st i wouldn't take a lot of time with my mixes at one point i think i made like 5 mixes in a week, haha... and then i saw everybody improving but i was behind, thatmade me more detremined and inspired me to take this seriously, especialy because i knew i can do it and i loved doing it.

At this forth H4L Exclusive Interview, Hoops4Life mix legend Mixtapelive had an interview with one of the biggest name in mix-world - LD2K.

Q: Any chances for us to see you do more non-Lakers related mixes?

I think you will in the future. But the Lakers are my team, my passion, my heart. I believe the story of the Lakers as a franchise is compelling enough; let alone the story of their current team. I enjoy doing Lakers videos because I can capture ALL of their games, have all of their footage, and tell all of their stories as the seasons’ progress. The Lakers is where my passion resides and was the stimulus that started me creating and producing videos. I don’t like to limit myself – but at the same time, I hope to have some surprises coming in the near future...

Q: LD2K, you've been mixing and putting out videos for a few years now, when did this whole thing start, and what got you into mixing?

I’ve been doing this for about four years. Originally, I wanted to be in journalism and wanted to be a sports writer/broadcaster for the longest time. In high school, I had my own column in the school and in the local newspaper – both covering sports. When I was a freshman however, I saw a Lakers video released online. I loved the idea of creating videos and telling stories visually as opposed to writing them. When I figured out how to use my first editing program and get VCR footage to my computer, I started to play around and figure out my craft. In late 2002, I released my first video – “LAL/POR – 2000 Game 7 WCF’s”. I had been blessed to be at the miraculous and legendary Game 7 with my father where the Lakers historically came back from 15 points down in the fourth quarter. The energy that I felt as a young kid was amazing. My father and I have been sharing many special sports moments together since I was born – literally. My dad even arranged for some b-ball shooting time on the Staples Center floor itself one night which pushed my Lakers motivation up even higher. I think when I was born he was checking the score of the Lakers game when my mother was in labor, (ha-ha), but in all seriousness, my entire family is extremely sports driven, and it plays a big role in my passion for mixing. You have to find something you love to do, and creating videos was not only what I found I loved to do, but it allowed me to express myself in more ways; I believe; than writing ever could have.

At the third H4L Exclusive Interview, Hoops4Life mix legend Mixtapelive spent some time and had an interview with H4L Storyline Mix Contest winner - LAKER#8.

Q: What got you into mixing, and what was your inspiration to start mixing?

What got me into it, well…
It must’ve been in the end of 2003, when I slowly discovered what options there are to view basketball on the internet. The first sites that really got me into it were SBZ and SupBitches.com, which are now both down I think. At least it was people like Shai, Q8iZ and Yinka Dare who I talked to and who all had made several mixes at that point.
The funny thing is, that it was NBN who actually told me to do some mixes on my own. I guess I had no real inspiration at that point; it was just the wish to show my stuff and the will to be known as Shai and the others.

Q: Where do you get some of your ideas from when mixing?

Uuh, there are lots of possibilities.
One thing that has happened to me a couple of times was, when hearing a song, I got some kind of vision, I got moving images to the sound and then I just planned to implement that vision.
Back in the days I think, I often had no real ideas and made mixes about my favorite players or mixes about players Shai and me had a lot of footage of.
Meanwhile it has become important to start thinking about your mix, to have a real concept cause highlight mixes aren’t that special anymore. So it’s just about getting some ideas how the mix should look like, it’s about being creative, especially about creating something new. It just appears to happen, anytime I do a new mix I got new ideas and try to add some new aspects to the video. Today you just think about what could be a story or an event to make a mix about.. lately it has been the All-Star Weekend, the playoffs and the finals for me.

At the second H4L Exclusive Interview, Hoops4Life air mish was able find some time and have some chat with one of the best cappers - Moises.

Q: So when did you first start capping?

A: I first started to cap around the beginning of October 2003, I had just build a new PC and I had planned to put in a capture device. I originally wanted it to capture some old home videos. But instead I used it to capture off the TV.

Q: Did you have any specific inspiration?

A: I wouldn't say anyone inspired me to do it. I just wanted it to capture those home videos, put them on DVD. Recording basketball games was an after thought.

Q: What lead you to recording basketball games and uploading them for other people to use or watch?

A: I just kind wanted to push my computer a little to the limit. I wanted to know if it could hold up to 3 hours of continuous capturing. So I began to cap a game here and there. I still have a couple of games from the 2003-2004 that were my test runs. I wanted to figure out a method to record them and get them on DVD. Once I figured it out, then it became a whole lot easier. I didn't plan to upload clips online. This was strictly for me, the capturing of these games. Back then, there were very few people capturing any clips. The few clips that were available were very poor in quality.
Very small resolution, very bad encoding. I wanted to change that, push the envelope.

Hoops4Life Blizzy did the very first H4L Exclulsive Interview with onecentpenny, we thank you the time onecentpenny spent for the interview.

Q: So when did you first start mixing, and what was your inspiration to start mixing?

A: Although following the NBA and playing Basketball have been my passion for years,I got into mixing pretty recently, only about 6-7 months ago. As I began following basketball on the internet as a fan,I came across mixes on many fansites i used to visit. This originally started my stint with mixes as I began collecing them. Collecting mixes eventually made me wonder whether I could start to create them, only this time with music I prefered and plays I liked better. Also the lack of creative and inspirational Penny Hardaway mixes were a big reason for me to get into mixmaking and prove to everybody the player he really is in my own way.A few months ago, blizzybone started to mix and I decided to give it a try as well.

Q: Could you tell us what the first few mixes you used to watch were?

A: As I said earlier ,I used to find mixes on fansites. Some of the first few i came across were by AND14EVA mixer, Newmove. I really liked his work on Stephon Marbury and Allen Iverson. I also watched a lot of Vincent Da mixes. His amazing work was and always is an eyetreat. These mixes layed the foundation for my work.
