Hoops4Life Blizzy did the very first H4L Exclulsive Interview with onecentpenny, we thank you the time onecentpenny spent for the interview.

Q: So when did you first start mixing, and what was your inspiration to start mixing?

A: Although following the NBA and playing Basketball have been my passion for years,I got into mixing pretty recently, only about 6-7 months ago. As I began following basketball on the internet as a fan,I came across mixes on many fansites i used to visit. This originally started my stint with mixes as I began collecing them. Collecting mixes eventually made me wonder whether I could start to create them, only this time with music I prefered and plays I liked better. Also the lack of creative and inspirational Penny Hardaway mixes were a big reason for me to get into mixmaking and prove to everybody the player he really is in my own way.A few months ago, blizzybone started to mix and I decided to give it a try as well.

Q: Could you tell us what the first few mixes you used to watch were?

A: As I said earlier ,I used to find mixes on fansites. Some of the first few i came across were by AND14EVA mixer, Newmove. I really liked his work on Stephon Marbury and Allen Iverson. I also watched a lot of Vincent Da mixes. His amazing work was and always is an eyetreat. These mixes layed the foundation for my work.

Q: How would you rate yourself as a mixer on a scale of 10.Is there any room for improvement?

A: As i said earlier im very new to mixmaking and have just about begun to tap into my potential. Therefore i will prob only rate my self a 6/10.

Q: To my knowledge you havent made any player mix outside the New York Knicks. Are you a die hard fan of the Knicks and can we expect a mix on a non-Knickerbocker?

A: Hehe, I jumped on the Knicks bandwagon when Penny landed there a couple of years ago,but you know wat they say,"Once a Knicks fan, always a Knicks fan". Moreover Ive always wanted to watch the Organisation win.Its been a rough two years for them though. As for their players, watching them have made me appreciate thema lot and Ive always wanted to showcase their strengths in my mixes. With everybody hating on the players and the organisation,I hope that they will prove them wrong and just get stronger!

Q: Well you have a pretty big collaboration coming up with Killa KMS and mixtapelive. What are your views on those guys? Are they the best at the moment?

A: While im not here to critisize anybody,I do think both of them are very accomplished mixmakers with varying styles.Killa KMS is a clean mixmaker. He enjoys making mixes devoid of effects while Mixtapelive is all about pin point editing, fast cuts, and a ton of smooth effects. Both of very very professional and accomoplished and it is an honour to work with them.Overall I think this mix will be one to watch out for!

Q:Who do you think are the top mixers at the moment and who are the mixers we should look out for?

A: Tough question! I cant really name one or two but there are many who are really entertaining. Some of the best are definately Vincentda,Mixtapelive and more recently EaglesVideoMaker. You arent too bad yourself and I love watching your work!

Q: Everytime before you start a new mix what gives you the inspiration to start a mix?Is it out of pure boredom or do you want others to see that player in a way you see them?

A: Hehe..My inspiration comes from a variety of areas, but mostly from other mixes.I often watch a mix,for its effects, plays, etc and wonder If i can do a better job of it.Also, every now and then my head gets filled with ideas for something new. Then there is the whole soundtrack selection. If all turns out well,I start my mix.

Q: Which mix would you rate the greatest mix of all time?Is there such a mix?

A: I dont want to rate a single mix as the best ever, but some that I think are pretty phenominal are:- Vincentda's 'Art of War' & NBA or 'How I would...'. Mixtapelive's recent 'Walk In Our Shoes' and most recently EVM's 'Weapon X'.Every now and then I come across a jaw dropping mix and I think there are lots more to come!I also like your 'Allen Iverson:Throwback' and 'Kobe Bryant Destiny's phenom' They evoke a lotta memories.

Q: Which aspect of your mixing are you trying to improve the most?

A: Well as i mentioned earlier,I am still scratching the surface,so I have loads to learn. Most of my mixes are devoid of effects. I am exploring this aspect of it and am trying to make the jump to newschool mixing.

Q: Whose mixes do you look at to improve yourself or gets some ideas?

A: Hehe, theres not one in particular, but often ur mixes leave me wanting more!Mixtapelive is amazing with the effects and Vincentda is a legend!

Q: Well thanks for spending these few moments with us.Do you have anything to say to your fans?

A: Well thank you Blizzy for taking this interview! Was a pleasure.I would like to thank the H4L crew for giving me this oppurtunity. As for my fans,Ive just about begun so behold for something special soon!
