Why is it big? It's because the Celtics never lost at home. But the even worse news is that they never won on the road either. Doc Rivers has a lot of motivating work to do now. At this point in the playoffs series wherein only 4 teams are left, the games are thrice as hard. And no team has the right to be complacent. No team in the NBA history had gone on to win a conference title without winning at least one game on the road. The Pistons had just proved they can win in Boston – a feat no team has done since the playoff series had started. And it's a proof that they can be champs. Now it's Boston's turn to return the favor. The Atlanta Hawks or the Cleveland Cavaliers weren't able to do it. The Pistons was the first team to hand the Celtics the shock of their lives. Kevin Garnett said that the thing they have been evading all along is now staring them right at their faces. And there's nothing else to do but to score a win at Michigan. Winning on the road shouldn't be a problem with the Celtics. In fact, they have won 31 games on the road during the regular season. It is only during the playoffs that they are 0-6, a frightening statistic for any team wishing to be the next NBA Champions. Much of that is because of fact that the Celtics are enjoying the home court advantage against any team this season. And so for some reason, they thought that should use it to their full advantage. In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals however, they missed a beat in their defense – a very costly mistake for them. But looking at the surface, the Celtics can still do it. Probably, the Piston's win in Boston is all they need to snap back into reality. Not winning on the road and still manage to win the NBA crown is not actually a great accomplishment to brag about. They should forget about making history and go back to the basics. The Celtics has to bring back their winning form and strength on the road if they want to advance to the next and the ultimate level. The Celtics can use whatever happened in Game 2 to their advantage. They should even be thanking the Pistons for bursting their bubble. Now, they are given the chance to prove everyone that they are a championship team, home court advantage or not. The Pistons don't have the luxury of a home court advantage. But they had discouraged the Celtics team big time. The pressure is on Boston. Now, the choice is theirs: Will they go to Detroit feeling demoralized or would they fight with the valor of a wounded soldier? The Celtics can still win the Eastern Conference Finals. In fact, they can even go on to face the Western Conference Champions and win that series too. But everything depends on their performance on Game 3. It's their last chance. And it's going to be the boost they need to be a fierce as they used to be. Winning Game 4 or Game 5 isn't the same as winning Game 3. It's Game 3 or nothing for them now.
