Does a team that has not won on an away game have a fighting chance for the championship title? Honestly speaking, the answer is no. Away games prove to be more challenging and more pressure-laden than games played on the home front. If the Boston Celtics can't win outside their comfort zone, how else can they defeat their next assignment, the Detroit Pistons? A reality check: It is now the Eastern Conference finals. And it's going to be either Detroit or Boston wearing the crown. Piston is a team to beat. And you can say the same for Boston. They won't be the top seeded team this year if they haven't played hard enough to be what they are now. The only problem with the Celtics is resiliency. For some reason, they can't deliver the goods when they are not at home. What's keeping them? Or are they too complacent with their achievements? On the other hand, the Pistons are having problems of their own. Rumors have it that the team's assistant coach is looking to be Sun's coach. And so the impending transfer would make an impact on their team. That could in a way, make the team's morale go down. However, that's the only problem the Piston squad has. Billups is set to play on Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, reportedly after healing from his hamstring injury. The Celtics, on the other hand, has a lot to fix. They need to regroup and regain confidence as one team if they ever want to win this title. Not winning on the road causes confidence problems on players. If Boston has doubts that they can't win against the Piston crowd, their game is not going to be as perfect as it is supposed to be. Their story against Cleveland would just repeat itself. And that means the Boston has to win in 7 games if they ever want to win at all. On the other hand, the Pistons know that they can win against the Boston crowd. And that is one big advantage they have in this match. The Pistons know that they can win; therefore they would work hard for their goal and just try to steal at least one game at Boston to trigger a victory. Because when that happens, the Celtic's confidence will go down further. In fact, if the Pistons get the first win in this series, then it's over for Boston. They might as well hand over the title without contest. That's how worse their situation really is. However, if ever the Celtics squeeze a victory over the Pistons, they are bound to face the Western Conference champion. On that level, nothing else will work but the champion mindset. If Boston still think that they can take the series up to Game 7 against the Western Conference champs just to bag this year's NBA title, then they are going to be badly mistaken.
