Houston Fails to Take the Series Home for a Game 7

Before the game, the Utah-Houston scorecard is 3-2. It is a must win situation for the Rockets to keep the Jazz from advancing to the next playoffs level. The Rocket's morale is high and they are ready to win, coming off the big victory on Game 5. But there's one bigger obstacle to their goal – Utah's home court advantage.

Apparently, only Tracy McGrady had the will to win this time around. Leading all scorers at 40 points and 10 rebounds, his numbers prove to be ineffective against the Jazz. His hard work didn't even inspire his teammates to play harder. Luis Scola chipped in 15 points. And he's the only player other than McGrady to score double figures. Mutombo contributed an agonizing 2 points and 6 rebounds. Apparently, there seems to be a lot of missing pieces in Houston's offensive and defensive courts.

On the other side, the Jazz vowed never to go back to Houston again. They wanted to end the series right there and then, at their hometown. Houston is the site of their humiliating 95-69 loss - the lowest score for any team this season. And consequently, that happened just a game ago - Game 5 of the same series.

Deron Williams stepped on the gas and scored 25 points overall, making him the Jazz's top scorer of the night. But what's more notable was the way other players added to Utah's 113-point victory. Mehmet Okur converted 19 points and amassed 13 boards. Carlos Boozer had 15 points with 10 massive rebounds. Brewer and Kirilenko had 24 points combined. All Utah's key players scored double figures.

It was an all-Utah game as the Rockets were always behind. Houston attempted several runs to cut Utah's lead but to no avail. At halftime, the score is a shaky 4 point lead for Utah at 58-54. The Rockets might have thought that that lead was quite manageable as they headed to the locker room. But the Jazz had other plans.

Utah wants the game to end as early as the third quarter so they blew up their lead to 18 points. Utah never looked back, forcing a 113-91victory to finally squash the Rocket's hope for a Game 7 or for any position in the current NBA series for that matter. With their rousing victory, Utah is headed for Los Angeles to try their prowess against the Lakers in the next level of the playoffs.
