Ok so it looks like from now on I’ll be writing this kind of weekly review for what is happening in basketball. Hopefully I won’t just keep it contained to the NBA, but with the Olympics coming up etc I’ll be able to cover the other areas as well.
I’ll probably be trying out various different ways of writing this out, if you have any ideas let me know...
But for now, let’s get to this week in basketball: |

The East is trembling. Detroit and Boston especially.
The conference has just stepped into the boxing ring with both feet tied together and a big target on its nose, wincing at the opponent staring at them from the other side of the ring.
They’d thought he was down.
They’d thought he was done.
But Dwyane Wade is back.
Hear that? That’s the sound of 14 teams collectively saying ‘Shit!’ |

If I were the commissioner, there’s several things I would do.
Get rid of the dress code, and emphasising the game itself rather than the teams and players that are in it etc.
But if I honestly had utter control over the league, and I could make the season turn out how I want, then there are several definite things I would want to see before this time next year. |

Ron Artest.
Simply mentioning the name will set off hundreds of thoughts in your mind. Memories of old headlines. Visions of past video highlights.
Unfortunately barely any of these are to do with basketball. |

Last year, The commissioner confirmed the NBA’s plan to move the league across the waves within the next decade.
Problem being, the players are beating him to it.
Today Josh Childress signed with Greek squad Olympiakos. |

I just posted an article detailing how active this past year has been for the NBA and how it has set itself as what will define the later part of the 00’s in the history books.
I did say that i wouldn’t be providing a round-up of the trades or signings, so don’t expect this to be it. I’m simply offering my personal thoughts on some specific goings-ons in the league, and also of the various possibilities that may just happen in the next few weeks. |

Go back twelve months in your memory. Maybe thirteen just to be sure.
The 2007 NBA draft is about two weeks away and the entire league is reeling from the Tim Donaghy fiasco and trying to concentrate on whether Greg Oden or Kevin Durant will be picked 1st. |

If the draft didn’t exist, the NBA would be pretty boring. The summer would be pointless and the entire league would probably be finished within a decade.
Lucky for us, the draft does exist. |

It’s been in the back of our minds for over a year but today it was finally officially announced that The Seattle Supersonics are losing the first part of their name and will be moving to Oklahoma City next season. |
