| 1. Utah Jazz (6-1) The Jazz have always been very good when Boozer and Kirilenko are healthy but just when they get rolling, Kirilenko goes down. Two words: Deron Williams…
 | 2. San Antonio Spurs (5-1) In their usual unassuming style, the Spurs are quickly compiling the wins whilst much has been made of Dallas and Phoenix’s poor starts. |
 | 3. Los Angeles Clippers (4-1) The Elton Brand of last season was left behind at the world championships but Sam I Am and Cuttino Mobley have more than picked up the slack.
 | 4. Atlanta Hawks (4-2) Atlanta compiling four wins in six games is unheard of but Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia are turning things around in Georgia.
 | 5. Houston Rockets (4-2) They’ve won three in a row largely thanks to Yao Ming who’s averaging MVP numbers whilst Tracy McGrady tries to find the arc on his jumpshot.
 | 6. Portland Trailblazers (4-2) Zach Randolph is playing like an All-Star, Brandon Roy looked like a veteran before his Achilles got to him and Jarrett Jack is showing the 05 draft’s PG class is more than three deep.
 | 7. Cleveland Cavaliers (4-2) Obviously LeBron has been great and is getting support from Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden. Ilgauskas can’t seem to stay on the court though. |
 | 8. New Orleans Hornets (4-2) They were the last remaining unbeaten team in the league as superstar Chris Paul and his main accomplice David West toyed with opponents.
 | 9. Golden State Warriors (4-3) After being thoroughly outplayed by Utah, the Warriors have gone 3-1, dishing out their own 31-point punishment to Detroit yesterday. |
 | 10. LA Lakers (4-3) Kobe is still on the mend but Lamar Odom, Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum have each come into their own. Kobe only shooting twelve times a night is unbelievable.
 | 11. Indiana Pacers (4-3) Al Harrington, Jermaine O’Neal and Danny Granger form a formidable frontcourt but unfortunately, Jackson, Tinsley and Jasikevicius have been horrendous.
 | 12. Sacramento Kings (3-2) Ron Artest and Mike Bibby have lost their shooting touch but Kevin Martin has no such problems adjusting to the new ball. He’s lining himself up for MIP.
 | 13. Miami Heat (3-2) The Heat are taking things easy during the regular season as they like to do but the way they’re playing in a sub-par eastern conference, David Stern should take their rings back.
 | 14. Philadelphia 76ers (3-3) Kyle Korver and Andre Iguodala are shooting a combined 55.4%. If Allen Iverson and Chris Webber could do the same, the 76ers would be NBA champs. |
 | 15. Washington Wizards (3-2) Agent Zero is due for another 40 point game soon but Antawn Jamison has been the one keeping this show going. Their big three is still good for 70 a night (unsurprisingly). |
 | 16. Orlando Magic (4-3) Inconsistent performances and a bailout by Turkoglu have the Magic at a decent 4-3. Grant Hill is looking phenomenal and moving like it was 1996, not 2006. |
 | 17. Seattle Supersonics (3-4) They would be four out of their last five if it wasn’t for the aforementioned Turkoglu bailout. Their starting unit has looked great except for an obvious hole in the middle.
 | 18. Chicago Bulls (3-3) Ben Gordon epitomizes what it means to be a Bull. Who else drops 37 on 60% from the field and follow it up with 5 points total on 1 from 18 over the next two games?
 | 19. New Jersey Nets (2-2) They were the only team to beat Utah but have lost twice to Miami already. It’s not a good sign for a team trying to challenge for the eastern conference.
 | 20. Detroit Pistons (3-4) Nazr Mohammed provides more offense than Ben could ever dream of but the Pistons aren’t the dominating they were last season. A tough road trip proved that. |
 | 21. Denver Nuggets (1-3) Three losses in a row by a total of six points to open the season left the Nuggets at an unenviable 0-3. They were a couple of shots away from being 4-0. |
 | 22. Phoenix Suns (2-5) The Suns have yet to lose by double figures but the team is not running too smoothly as Amare tries to find his way again. Leandro Barbosa has been scorching the nets. |
 | 23. Toronto Raptors (2-3) Chris Bosh is putting up gargantuan numbers and is cementing his status as a superstar whilst Andrea Bargnani hasn’t had much change to prove his worth. |
 | 24. Milwaukee Bucks (2-5) Michael Redd is the most underrated player in the league but if dropping 57 points won’t get him any love, nothing will. The Bucks are better than their record suggests. |
 | 25. New York Knicks (2-5) QRich has been on fire, Stephon Marbury unselfish, David Lee all over the boards, Nate Robinson dunking already and Renaldo Balkman legit. 2-5 is better than 0-7.
 | 26. Dallas Mavericks (1-4) That’s what happens when your owner attempts to disrespect David Stern. It’s not a good thing when Mark Cuban is the most publicized Maverick. |
 | 27. Charlotte Bobcats (1-4) Emeka Okafor, Sean May and Brevin Knight have been performing. Can’t say the same for Raymond Felton, Adam Morrison or Gerald Wallace. |
 | 28. Memphis Grizzlies (1-4) 1996: San Antonio Spurs – David Robinson = Tim Duncan and 3 championships. 2006: Memphis Grizzlies – Pau Gasol = Greg Oden? |
 | 29. Minnesota Timberwolves (2-4) Craig Smith is looking great but he’s not the rookie who’s supposed to be looking great. Randy Foye, where art thou?
 | 30. Boston Celtics (1-5) Paul Pierce puts up All-NBA numbers and does everything for his team whilst losing a lot and isn’t demanding a trade. The NBA needs to name some kind of award after him.
