PREVIEW: Celtics vs Lakers

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be a heck of a matchup. The main starting players from Boston are Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, and the main starters at the Lakers are Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher and Pau Gisol. It will be a tough matchup for both teams.

Let's first talk about the Boston Celtics; they don't have enough depth to play with the Lakers. Don't get me wrong, they are very talented, but Kobe is a beast and seems like he is unstoppable. ESPN even talked about how Kobe Bryant is a monster and is always so hungry for more.

I believe that the Celtics need to double team Kobe, but if they do that, the Lakers bench will still be all over them. With rookie guard Jordan Farmer, a heavy weapon, can also pass and shoot anywhere on the court. Pierce's 19 points a game will need to increase some in order to compete with the Lakers. What really needs to happen is Kendrick Perkins, the Celtics center, needs to come out of his shell like he did the last series and have a game of his career again. Perkins is a monster down low, but with Bynum and Gasol, he needs to crank it up a couple notches.

In my opinion, this series will probably go into seven games before a championship winner is declared. I believe that the Lakers will end up in game seven with the win and the championship trophy. The Celtics have three veteran players, but their bench isn't that great. Look at the Lakers, their bench is loaded. The whole team is stacked actually, because basically everyone could have a starting position. The main bench players are Lamar Odom, Jordan Farmer, Andrew Bynum, and Ronny Turiaf. Now onto the coaches for both teams.

Doc Rivers, the Boston Celtics coach, is a phenomenal coach. The Lakers coach is Phil Jackson who is and will probably be the best NBA coach to ever coach the game. He has coached and won championships with stars such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Shaquille O'Neal already. He is the smartest coach in the NBA and seems to be unstoppable. So I think this matchup between the Celtics and Lakers will be a series to watch, but in the outcome the Lakers will take home the championship trophy. In order for the Celtics to win, they will need to shut Kobe Bryant down. He is averaging an outstanding 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. The Lakers point guard Derek Fisher is averaging 10 points a game and is deadly behind the arc. Rajon Rando will need to put a hand in his face the whole entire time as well.

The Lakers and Celtics have not played each other in the Final series for several years. This upcoming NBA championship just isn't any championship. It's a special tradition between the two teams, which back then Larry Bird faced Magic Johnson.

The Lakers have a special shooting weapon as well, Vladimir Radmanovic who will actually become a free agent after the year. He is deadly from the arc and will give the Celtics a lot of trouble. If the Celtics leave him alone or do not figure out how to guard the right men in the right positions, this game will be handed to the Lakers easily. Pau Gasol will be decreasing Kevin Garnetts' offensive production. The production that Gasol uses is very likely to lead the Lakers into being the 2008 champions as long as Kobe does his thing and as long as Fisher is able to get the ball down to Gasol.

Then, the Lakers will have this thing wrapped up.

Prediction: Lakers in 7
