Impressive! Just when you thought Kobe had cooled off and didn’t really need to score 40+ points he goes and lights up George Karl’s Denver Nuggets for 49 points!
He started off hot and just kept going, scoring 20 of his 49 points in the first quarter. Kobe Bryant was literally unguardable and seemingly impossible to stop on the offensive end of the floor. Number 24 was hitting shots from inside and outside, slashing and passin’. The Nuggets threw everything at him but the kitchen sink and it didn’t faze him one bit. |

Unless the Boston Celtics are going to face the Detroit Pistons in the second round, I don’t see Kevin Garnett and his boys struggling or getting a challenge from any team any time soon.
The series with the Atlanta Hawks is an absolute joke, like I have said before, I believe the Hawks will be a very talented team and a big threat in the Eastern Conference in the near future, but against the Celtics as of right now they don’t have even the slightest chance of taking down the eventual Eastern Conference champs. Not only do they not have a chance of winning this series, but they won’t win one game unless one of the big three goes down with an injury like Paul Pierce almost did when he collided with the Hawks Josh Smith. |

Honestly, the Boston Celtics will be playing like men among boys in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are just too powerful a combination for any team in the East to handle. It not just that these three can score at will, but there defense is the best in the NBA and they can stop anyone. Not saying that the East is just terrible (well it is pretty bad), but the Celtics are just that good!
I could almost say that the Celtics will go undefeated in the playoffs, 12 straight wins without a real challenge until they get to the NBA finals against a real team (the Lakers) in the West. |

Only a couple games into the Western Conference playoffs and we have already had some classic games and entertaining match ups!
I would have to say after watching all the opening 1st round games in the West that the clear cut favorite has to be the Los Angeles Lakers to go all the way. Granted the Denver Nuggets are an eight seed in the West and should be an easy sweep in for the #1 seed Lakers, but the way the West was during the regular season, literally any team could have been the atop the West on any given week and every team from 1-8 is extremely talented and a legitimate threat.
Even with Kobe Bryant having a bad shooting night (he did score 32 though) the Lakers managed to still beat the Denver Nuggets by 14 points off a huge game from the Spaniard Pau Gasol who scored 36 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and dished out 8 assists! This performance showed me how very versatile the Lakers can be and how their number 1 seeding in the West was no fluke. I see no team in the West giving the Lakers too much trouble, but if there is a team that will stretch out a series with the Lakers to 6 or 7 games it will be the winner of the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs series which went into double overtime in their first meeting. |
