Lottery Mock Draft 2008

Boston Celtics is the 2008 NBA Champion, Paul Pierce is the 2008 NBA Finals MVP, but who is going to be the number 1 pick in the coming NBA Draft? Hoops4Life the.game brought to you: Lottery Mock Draft 2008

1. Chicago Bulls – Derrick Rose | 6’3 | PG | Memphis
With every passing day, it seems that the Derrick Rose to Chicago train is picking up steam.  Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah have been somewhat problematic; Derrick Rose will be anything but.

2. Miami Heat – Michael Beasley | 6’9 | SF/PF | Kansas State
The Heat might have to consider picking OJ Mayo here as the Timberwolves might be willing to bank on the Heat passing up Beasley.

3. Minnesota Timberwolves – OJ Mayo | 6’4 | PG/SG | Southern Cal.
OJ Mayo is essentially a top three lock.  Whether he winds up in Miami, Minnesota, LA or New York is a whole ‘nother story.  The Timberwolves would love Brook Lopez but third overall is a reach.

4. Seattle Supersonics – Jerryd Bayless | 6’3 | PG/SG | Arizona
Bayless is a true scoring machine and though he doesn’t have great size and length, his second to none athleticism will ensure there’s not much that’s going to hold him back playing with the big boys.

5. Memphis Grizzlies – Kevin Love | 6’9 | PF | UCLA
Kevin Love fits a need, giving the Grizzlies a post presence and a strong rebounder who will probably get Rudy Gay more than a few highlights on the break.

6. New York Knicks – Russell Westbrook | 6’3 | PG/SG | UCLA
The Knicks prefer OJ Mayo or Jerryd Bayless but they love Westbrook’s athleticism and intensity.  The UCLA guard is arguably the top defender in the draft.

7. Los Angeles Clippers – Eric Gordon | 6’4 | SG | Indiana
Gordon is somewhat a one dimensional player at this point in his development.  He’s not a great rebounder, passer or defender and clearly scoring is his drawing card.

8. Milwaukee Bucks – Anthony Randolph | 6’10 | SF/PF | Louisiana State
The Bucks are reportedly looking at either Anthony Randolph or Joe Alexander with this pick and right now, it’s looking like they get their pick of the two.  Randolph’s upside might be too high to pass up.

9. Charlotte Bobcats – Brook Lopez | 7’0 | C | Stanford
Brook Lopez’s scoring ability fits a need but the Bobcats could go in a few directions with this pick.  Raymond Felton is a decent PG but DJ Augustin could be considered an upgrade and Joe Alexander/Anthony Randolph could also be considered here.

10. New Jersey Nets – Danillo Gallinari | 6’9 | SF | Italy
It seems that Gallinari has a top ten promise after the rumors that he would only stay in the draft with a top ten guarantee.  He’s in the draft for good and the Nets are favored to be the team.

11. Indiana Pacers – DJ Augustin | 6’0 | PG | Texas
DJ Augustin could crack the top ten but if not, the Pacers need an infusion of talent and leadership after several years of poor drafts (save Danny Granger).

12. Sacramento Kings – Joe Alexander | 6’9 | SF | West Virginia
Joe Alexander is arguably the best all-round athlete in this draft, not to mention one of the most intense and hard working.  The Kings don’t have a quick fix solution to their roster and Alexander could help them take a few more steps towards competing for a playoff spot again.

13. Portland Trailblazers – Brandon Rush | 6’7 | SG/SF | Kansas
Brandon Rush doesn’t have the most upside but he can stroke the long ball, defend and is just a very solid player.  Rush is the type of character and player that will help a team win games come playoff time.

14. Golden State Warriors – DeAndre Jordan | 7’0 | C | Texas A&M
DeAndre Jordan has both the upside and the bust factor that could make people lose their jobs down the track.  Getting into the middle of the draft, the potential reward starts to outweigh the risk.
